Tianjin Institute of Industrial Biotechnology of Chinese Academy of Sciences (TIB, CAS), co-sponsored by Chinese Academy of Sciences and Tianjin Municipal Government, was established in March 2009 as a non-profit organization and national comprehensive research institution. TIB, located at Tianjin Airport Economic Zone, focuses on the basic and application research of the industrial biotechnology field and promotes the research development to the world frontier. The development of TIB targets on the national strategy requirements and world scientific edges to formulate the industrial biological technology system and improve the continuous economic growth in Bohai Rim of Tianjin guide by Scientific Development Perspective.

Scientific and Technological Layout

Three main research fields of TIB include: Protein and Bio-catalysis engineering, Biosynthesis and Biomanufacturing engineering, and Biosystem and Bioprocessing engineer. TIB aims on serving the demands from domestic and international. For the broader range, TIB will develop the research net was under structuring in TIB for the tight work relationship in the scientists from United States, Canada, German, Japan and etc. Internationalization and openness will be prerequisite for an institute with scientific achievement and competency.

TIB has "Industrial Enzymes National Engineering Laboratory" which is approved by National Development and Reform Commission, "CAS Key Laboratory of Microbial Engineering Systems" which is approved by CAS and "Key Laboratory of Biosystems and Bioprocess Engineering "which is approved by Tianjin government. TIB carries out extensive cooperation with 20 bio-technology enterprises in Tianjin and many enterprises in Hebei, Shandong, Liaoning, Jilin, Jiangsu, and Zhejiang etc.

Recruiting Positions

Principal Investigators

We invite outstanding individuals to apply for a faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor.

We especially encourage applicants to use interdisciplinary approaches in the basic research and applied projects. The candidate should have a Ph.D. degree and postdoctoral training experiences. Successful candidates are expected to develop an independent research program that can attract national and international research funding.

Senior Technician

We are seeking exceptional candidates for the position of senior technicians in enabling Platforms including Microbial high throughput screening platform, Microbial system biotechnology platform, Simulation and pilot fermentation platform, and Biomedical engineering platform. Enabling Platforms will provide efficiencies of scale through increased instrument usage and centralized technician and academic staff support. The primary aim of the platforms is to serve the research needs. Applicants must have a Ph.D., M.D. or equivalent graduate degree and have relative experience in one of the instrumentations. For example, Fermentation Technology Facility, High-Throughput Screen facility, NMR, Mass Spectrometry, X-Ray Diffractometer, Scanning Electron Microscope et al.
